Distance Reiki
no past, no present, no future
During the second degree Reiki attunement the Reiki practitionerreceives the Distance Symbol.
This symbol allows the practitioner to send Reiki to someone who is not present. The Reiki recipient could be in another room, they could be on the other side of the world!
Time and space are no problem for this symbol and so it might even be used to help a person who has suffered problems in the past that still affect them, or who will be facing future difficulties.
Even more amazing is that Reiki can be “programmed” to arrive at a particular time. So for example, if you live in a different time zone and wanted to receive Reiki before bed, I could send Reiki to you any time after receiving your request to arrive when you need it.
Sending a Postcard – Sending Reiki
I suppose that the idea of “sending” Reiki might sound strange at first. But how many times do we say to a friend in parting “give my love to Joan”, or “tell Simon I’m thinking of him”?
In cards and letter, in texts and in email we send our love, our “best wishes”, or “warm regards”. These are not just words on a page or screen. They are something that we feel, that we “put out there” and who knows what the recipient feels.
By your own experience of feeling love from reading a loving message, you could say the love was “sent”. So too we blow kisses, and we feel our love go out to the beloved, and perhaps they even make some gesture to catch that kiss and hold on to it.
When people pray, asking for help and healing, it might be about something in the past or the future. Indeed, many Christians will light candles in church. One of the symbols of lighting a candle is that even though the person is no longer there, their intention is, signified by the light of the candle flame!
Often people will say that they can feel loved one or friends around them “it was as if he were there with me” – regardless of whether that person is dead or alive, near or far. So this sense of being close to those who are far away, or giving and receiving love or kind thoughts is not actually so strange after all.
